complete the blanks [again]

[ ] [ ] [ ], [ ]

these four words
just as they are
just as they were

i keep them in
a pocket within a warm coat
in the fine mist left on hair after drizzle
curled in the depth of a palm
held, so only that flutter could prise open
shells of beach etching written in grains of sand
and on the dwindling leaf cling
as autumn snakes cold
scratched into veins in a quivering gold

keep them close
keep them near
no further than handhold
no further than here.

[fill in your own blanks.]

Well, if it’s in the pocket of a coat, it’s obvious:

Wash - light - colours - separately.

Lillipilli - ah, but more space is needed…

Andophiroxia - surely don’t you mean turkey?

Mr. Witness - thrice bah! you might be on to something, though.

Doobrie - ah, clever. I had not thought of that one!

Ani - other places do their words much more thickly spread. and possibly, more meaningfully.

omg this is lovely … moments are so enigmatic … chameleons, all of ‘em … this poem and its gift of possibility can be worn on or beneath skin … beautifully so …
